There are some people who feel like they can justify camping outside of a Best Buy for four nights in order to get the latest gadget. There are also those people who feel like they should still offer tech support for the lantern. As for me? I place myself right in the middle. The extreme technical name for my category is the early majority. We adopt new technology soon after it has been proven to be worth the money. The early majority does not adopt brand new technology like Angelina Jolie adopts African babies. I believe most college student will join me in saying that it would be easier to be apart of the innovators if we were a little more financial able. Of course almost every male out there wants the newest and shiniest gizmo that beeps and lights up. There is a certain amount of risk required to be an innovator. I found myself purchasing the LG Chocolat phone the first day it came out. Now, I did not plan it out years in advance. I needed a new phone and thought it was cool. Luckily, when I purchased the phone, I purchased the warranty as well. In a little more than a year, I have had to exchange the phone nine times for bugs and defects, none of which were my fault. I learned my lesson and now have pledged to only buy new technology after it has been proven in the market for a substantial amount of time. Hopefully, I will never fall so far behind new technology that I end up like my grandmother, a woman who still thinks her computer is broken because it won’t turn on with the remote.

Aside from the fact that this blog is a requirement for a class, I think that it would give me an opportunity to become more familiar with the blog world. I really have never had an interest in blogs because there aren’t very many rules dealing with accuracy with reports and the quality of information or comments. Yes, there are great things about blogs, but personally, if I want to hear someone I don’t know give his or her opinion about something… well… frankly I don’t really care. Maybe my opinion on blogs will change during the semester. Maybe they will change from being frustrated people who decide to rely on an online journal to get people to pay attention to them instead of… say… a stunning presence or maybe a hint of personality. Blogs are very important to the communications field, but frankly, I can find other ways to learn about communications. It is too easy to start getting information from a ten year old with a sippy cup and a plate of cookies. I would rather stick to people who make journalism and research their career.
